Well here it is, my first ever blog post. This is all quite unfamiliar to me so I'm going to get straight to the point and say hi, a little about why I made this blog, and what I hope to achieve. If you're reading this, thank you for visiting my humble tech blog. I hope you find the content useful/educational/mildly entertaining.

❓...but Why?

That's a fair question. Given I've been labbing for several years now, why am I just starting this now?

🀝 Giving back to the community

"Standing on the shoulders of giants"

This is a phrase which has resonated with me throughout my whole homelab journey.

The deeper I've delved into home labbing, the more I've become exposed to the awesome people that make up the home lab community. The amount of times some advice from a random blog post of page 3 of google has saved one of my projects is non trivial. That being said, I feel I've benefitted enough from others and it's now my time to start giving back and helping those embarking on their own journey.

πŸ“ Document, document, document

I'm sure i'm not the only one that has came across a niche issue requiring hours researching a solution, only to forget 5 minutes later. Wouldn't it be great if I simply spent a minute or two to make a note so that I might save others the same pain and torment? Well that's one of the main driving forces behind this blog. I'm hoping its mere existence will serve as a strong reminder for me to improve my documentation skills, whilst also allowing my findings to help others.

πŸŽ“ Teach so that you may learn

A.K.A the ProtΓ©gΓ© effect. I've always found that having to explain technical concepts to those less familiar forces you to approach the concept from different viewpoints thus furthering your own understanding.

πŸ“ƒ Topics

In this shiny new blog I'll be writing about my projects, both past and present, and will share both my learnings and perspective. This could range from tutorials for newcomers, sharing application config, or just rambling about my tech stack. To be honest, my attention span can drift rapidly so who knows what's in store.

Wrapping up this first post, thank you once again for visiting and I look forward to continuing this journey together. I hope you enjoy the content. Feel free to leave your comments, positive or negative, as it's all a learning experience. Check out my GitHub for any of the config files mentioned in my upcoming posts.

Peace ✌🏻
